Laid bare

As a person who spends a fair amount of his time wandering along the Lee, i've been quite struck by the the amount of felling this year.  I understand the need to trim and promote regrowth in faster growing species along the river bank, of course, but this spring a large amount of mature trees, which i'm guessing by their size may well have been around longer than me, have been chopped. The river between St Margarets and Ware looks and feels vandalised and unhealthy.  Why the need this year??  See More
