Hi Ernie and welcome - fire person mmm hot hot hot - not in a position to implement this great concept but I certainly look forward to a fully informed and always innovative Alex becoming a fully fledged fire via your excellent guidance :-)
Please tell him I love him!
I became aware of his work about a year ago when a friend of mine made a rocket stove and I was so impressed with this simple concept but it occured to me that someone must have found a way to heat a room with this, so I started looking and came accross something on the permies website (which led me to the video which I've posted on our video page) and I've been slightly obsessed with the concept ever since.
So you know it's a platonic love born of respect not lust!
Saying all this I've quite literally NO practical experience. The population is quite concentrated on our little island and access to land is a real issue. Also with our bureacratic systems and building regulations most cob buildings are over 300 years old! I see from your photos though that you were installing a RMH in a building with thin ply style walls. I would assume that this is still a ground floor (first floor in American) build; has your research led you to any thermal mass light enough that it could be used in my 3rd floor (4th floor American) appartment?
Hello and Welcome from across the pond.
I'm very interested in rocket mass heaters myself, have you done any work with Ianto Evans?
Alex
