Iwas in Holland and Barrett this morning and was delighted to have to open the doors to get in! I congratulated the young lady behind the counter on Holland and Barrett understanding the need to conserve energy and not blast heat into the street.. Alas, I was told the doors were only shut because their heating system has broken down. Normal service to be shortly resumed!
I think I'm going to let Holland and Barrett hear my views. If you'd like to join me their e mail is customerservices@hollandandbarrett.com or you can write to them at Samuel Ryder House , Barling Way, Warwickshire, CV10 7RH

Permalink Reply by Rod Lewis on April 7, 2011 at 13:24 Interesting discussion. I was only thinking along these lines on Monday.
I collect my son from a drama lesson at The Hertford Theatre. As I sit and wait for him, the automatic doors (2 sets) ping open everytime someone walks near them, whether or not they are entering the hall. The waste of energy must be substantial if that is happening all day long! (plus of course, it's my community charge being spent by EHDC!)
